Cruise Guru understands that privacy is important to you and wants your experience when dealing with us to be as enjoyable and safe as possible. This policy describes who Cruise Guru is and how it handles your personal information generally as well as when you use our Site.
In this privacy policy, "Personal Information" means information or an opinion, in any form (whether true or not) about an individual whose identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained from the information or opinion.
Who are we?Cruise Guru is a business name of Travel the World Pty. Ltd. We operate as an online cruise retailer under the Cruise Guru brand.
What Personal Information is collected by Cruise Guru?All of the Personal Information Cruise Guru collects about its clients is collected to enable Cruise Guru to provide them with its services.
Clients of Cruise Guru provide various kinds of Personal Information in several different ways. Some clients choose to submit Personal Information through subscription and entry forms, booking forms and requests for more information, either through e-mails, response devices or other methods. Depending on the service you are accessing, you could be asked at various times to provide Personal Information including but not limited to, details such as your name, e-mail address or information about what you like and do not like. When booking one of our products or paying for other services, we may request your credit card number to complete the transaction or your mailing address to ensure delivery.
Generally, Cruise Guru does not collect sensitive information about you such as details of your race, political beliefs, religion or health. However, depending on the products and services you ask us to provide, we may be required to collect some sensitive information when we are providing you with specialised services (such as access requirements for a disability).
How do we collect Personal Information?In general, we collect Personal Information directly from you. However, if you are accessing our products and services as part of a group (for example, a group booking for a cruise or cruise tour), we may collect Personal Information about you from the person who is making the booking on your behalf.
If you are accessing our products and services on behalf of a group, you represent to us that every member of that group has consented to you providing us with the Personal Information we require in order to provide those products and services.
Use of Personal InformationWe use your Personal Information to provide you with our products and services including notifying you about new products, services or promotions from time to time.
Will your information be given to anyone else?As a travel agent, Cruise Guru offers products and services on behalf of a number of other providers including but not limited to cruise lines and insurance companies. Cruise Guru may be required to disclose your Personal Information to these providers to enable them to provide you with their services and to assist in making your experience a satisfying one. As these providers require this Personal Information when making your booking, if it is not provided we will not be able to finalise your booking.
Because many of the travel products and services that we offer to our clients are located in countries outside Australia, at times it may be necessary for us to transfer your Personal Information to countries that do not have a privacy regime that offers the same degree of protection of your Personal Information as the privacy regime in Australia. Cruise Guru is not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties (whether within or outside Australia) and does not promise that Personal Information that is sent outside will enjoy the same degree of protection as it has in Australia.
Personal Information may also be disclosed to third parties only for the purpose of completing your transaction with us (for example, your credit card provider) and for associated administrative purposes (for example frequent flyer number and expenditure details will be sent to the relevant airline).
Internally, any Personal Information collected by Cruise Guru is only made available to those authorised individuals who need to handle that information for the purposes outlined in this policy. In some circumstances, Personal Information may also be disclosed outside Cruise Guru. For example, we may disclose Personal Information to third parties to whom we contract out specialised functions (such as mailing houses and printing companies). In such cases we require an undertaking from such persons to comply with the National Privacy Principles and not use the Personal Information for any purposes beyond the scope of our contract with them.
Cruise Guru may also disclose Personal Information where permitted under the National Privacy Principles including when required by law, when reasonably necessary to assist an enforcement body or to lessen or prevent a threat to individual or public health or safety.
Use of CookiesLike many other commercial websites, Cruise Guru may employ a standard technology called a "cookie" to collect information about how the Site is used including data such as pages visited and inferred preferences, as well as aggregate Site data.
"Cookies" are pieces of electronic information (specifically, a string of text) that your browser and your operating system store on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes. Cookies can store a user's ID and password, personalise home pages and identify which parts of a site have been visited or keep track of previous selections or purchases. In this way, cookies can enhance the user's visit.
Other companies, which place advertising or links on the Site, may collect information about you when you view or click on their advertising or content through the use of cookies.
Due to the technical operation of the Internet, Cruise Guru cannot control this collection of information and accepts no responsibility for this collection, use or disclosure. You should contact these advertisers or content providers if you have any questions about the use of the information they collect.
Links with other sitesThere may be links that will let you leave the Site. The use of information and/or privacy provided by the operator of a linked site as to any Personal Information you provide in accessing a linked site is similarly outside our control.
Cruise Guru takes no responsibility for any privacy policies or practices of any websites accessible from the Site, whether or not such practices conform to privacy policies of those sites.
Removal from our listsIf you do not want to receive e-mail or posted offers from Cruise Guru please let us know by sending an e-mail message to privacy@CruiseGuru.com.au. Or if you simply follow the instructions for "un-subscribing" included as part of Cruise Guru's regular mail and e-mail offers, your name will be removed from the mailing list.
Access and CorrectionIn general, you have a right to access Personal Information which Cruise Guru holds about you (although there are some exceptions to this right of access). You also have the right to ask us to correct Personal Information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
If you wish to access the Personal Information held by Cruise Guru then you should address your request in writing to our Privacy Officer.
Please note that in the interests of protecting the privacy of all our customers, if you request details of any Personal Information held by us, we will need to identify you properly. To do this, we may telephone you or require your current name and address (any former addresses that may assist in identification) and a copy of a form of identification such as a current driver's license or passport. We will assume, unless you tell us otherwise, that your request relates to our current records about you. This includes Personal Information about you, which is held on our databases and files.
Generally, we will not charge you for the cost of providing access to our current records about you.
For legal and administrative reasons, Cruise Guru may also store records containing Personal Information in its archives. You may seek access to the records held by Cruise Guru which are not current records, but if you do so, we may charge you for the cost of providing access.
If you are of the view that Personal Information about you is not accurate, complete or up to date, please provide our Privacy Officer with your request for correction (contact details are set out below). Any requests for correction will be dealt with promptly.
