Royal Caribbean International: Voyager Of The Seas
Overview
This ship is a revolutionary marvel of naval engineering. Enjoy one-of-a-kind features like an ice-skating rink, the Royal Promenade and a rock-climbing wall, just for starters. How did we accommodate all of these innovative ideas? Simple. We built a bigger cruise ship. The 138,000-ton, 3,114-guest Voyager of the Seas became the world's largest cruise ship when it entered service in November 1999. Innovations on this and other Voyager-family ships add up to more space for every guest, and include enhanced staterooms, expanded dining options and exceptional recreational facilities.

Being a first time cruiser I didn't really know what to expect. We had no trouble embarking although we were at the wharf fairly early and this avoided the line up. I would recommend a balcony room in the middle of the ship. We didn't get sea sick or even feel sick. The meals were beautiful in the dining room and the staff were excellent, particularly the ones that we got to know. I would definately say to go on a cruise longer than a week as there is so much to see and do. A show every night, movies almost all day, the bars with live music, lots of entertainment - trivia, water aerobics, boot scooting, selsa lessons and lots more. The cabins are fairly small but we were only in the cabin to sleep and all you need is a comfortable bed. If you want a restful holiday this is the way to go. No cooking, cleaning, bed making. The only thing that I found difficult was the washing. There is no laundry on the ship. They did however, over the 14 nights we were on, have 2 days where we could put washing in for $15 a bag, which was good. Washed and folded. Food is available at the cafe 24/7. There is a choice of dining either in the dining room or in the Windjammer which is like a self serve bistro. They are big on clean hands with hand washing facilities at every dining room and many places on the deck. Having not been on any other cruise I have nothing to compare but I have paid my deposit to go again on the Voyager. I loved it.
Until our next Voyager

I read some pretty poor reviews before I boarded our cruise to NZ about noro virus, long queues, bad service and was not especially looking forward to it. However I was pleasantly surprised maybe because I had low expectations I don't know, but we had a great time! There are so many entertainment options from the skating rink to theatre productions to promenade displays to comedians,..the list goes on
The 3 tier dining room was pretty spectacular and things ran well, I wouldn't want to be managing that kitchen! Food was mostly great (had a couple of 'misses')
We had a huge balcony room, maybe we got lucky as our friends' was much smaller lol. Did we get upgraded?
A great cruise Voyager thank you we love you!

It was a long queue to get onboard, not really sure if this was due to the size of the ship or poor planning but is was a 2 hour boarding process, way too long for me even more as only onboard for such a short time. I did find the ship a bit dated looking in the cabins and the bistro areas.
the pool decks was also very small for a ship that holds over 3500 passengers.
the bars were great and the main street area was fantastic!!.
the dinning room was one of the calmest I have eaten in, so quite but the food a bit bland but good service.
Again the expereince was a rushed one but as only 1 night it is hard to judge too harshly.
Thanks to Cruise Guru for looking after us for this booking and cocktail event.
Would be happy to give it another go for a few more days though

This was our first time cruising and so a one night cruise probably isn't a true reflection on what to expect. Negatives - the 2 hour wait to get on the boat, dinner at the main restaurant, staff knocking on your door early the next morning and the crowds. Positives - staff were friendly, room with a balcony was good, Dreamworks parade, Johnny Rockets at midnight and the Irish Pub was great with some good friends.
