I returned from a Carnival Spirit cruise to Noumea late May and a small bingo win left me $80 in credit; was told, with other passengers, refunds would to be returned by cheque or to the original source of funds, within a few days.
Despite three emails. . . nothing !
Very poor, however cruise was brilliant, especially the dining and staff.

I went on carnival for my kids thinking it would be more entertaining. How very wrong. Unfortunately we got windy weather and found the ship does not cater for this. Every activity for the kids are on the high decks so once it's windy there is no basketball, mini golf, slides, ping pong. My kids would hang out for the afternoon deck games near the pool for some entertainment but they only did that every second day and played a 10 min game for over 12 or 18 year old only. The only thing I would rate as awesome on the ship was the restaurant service and food was amazing and the cabin stewards were also great but entertainment wise that needs a whole reboot (maybe a tad less trivia and more pool side interaction with guests to get the mood up). For a kids ship I thought it was the worst for that maybe great if you have perfect clear days with no wind. Every night when we would get our "fun times" booklet even my kids would laugh at the same thing everyday - trivia trivia trivia!!!! It was the only cruise I have been on that even 4 days into it I was dreading being in the boat for another 6 nights

Value for money was first class. Entertainment excellent. Food fair to good. Nouveau first rate. Tour of Noumea could have been better - too long at hotel. Stateroom very good.

We cruised with Carnival Spirit on March 2nd to Mare, Isle of Pines and Nouméa and experienced a level of service you just don't get on shore. I should point out that we were first time cruisers and therefore have nothing to compare it to except our non-cruising hospitality experiences, but we were just blown away. From the rooms stewards to the bar & wait staff, everyone on board was just so helpful, friendly & ultimately professional.

We want to especially mention Robertino, Marko & Luis Felipie in the Empire dinning room, who we thought made our holiday. We also wanted to give a big shout out Glynda & Reyce in the Artist Bar, Budie, Ratyna & Pat in the Atrium & Dewa on deck 9.

FOOD: We enjoyed every meal in the Empire Dinning Room and found the recommendations from the staff spot on 95% of the time. Before we booked we noticed some reviews mentioned the food was served cold or luke-warm, we never found this to be the case. The brunch served on two of the sea days was a hit (try the breakfast mac and cheese). The C-Side BBQ was a favourite, as too was the 24 hour pizza and you MUST dine in the Nouveau and have the chocolate sampler as dessert. Enjoying a fine dining experience is always on the top of our holiday ‘wish list’, and we were blown away by the dining experience offered to us at Nouveau. For an additional cost of $30 for lunch or $40 for an evening experience, Nouveau is one of the best dining experiences we have ever had.

LIVE MUSIC: We LOVE live music and would have like to have seen a little more of it during the day, but in saying that - on the days we weren’t just enjoying relaxing in the sun, we found PLENTY to do. We loved Nathan Douglas, he was probably our favourite, but A Day In The Life were really good, too. The big band show we watched in the Artist Bar on our last night was a favourite moment for us; Worldclass and extremely entertaining. I don’t think we’ve ever seen a band word harder than Manilla, and they seemed to play everyone’s favourite songs. Their show on the Lido stage was a highlight. To be honest, we expected a little more from the piano bar entertainer, but it wasn’t an issue.

PRODUCTION SHOWS: We loved the tribute to New Orleans’ show. The staging, set design and dancing was brilliant. We had to remind ourselves we were on a cruise ship and not at the a theatre in the city. It was just that good. We loved the Illusion show on the last night of our cruise, and the big band swing production showcased the awesome show band perfectly. We want to especially mention one of the singers in the production show - Justine, who sang the hell out of the song “Queen Of The Night” as part of the New Orleans’ show; What a voice, she is absolutely worldclass.

COMEDY: We saw a lot of the comedy shows and were really surprised with how good the comedians were. Anil Desai, Lenny Schmidt and Simon Palomares were extremely entertaining with material that was both side-splittingly funny and clever. We didn’t go much on Jason Ryder or his material, but it’s only a small complaint.

DRINKS: The price of the drinks were very affordable. Cocktails priced between $10 to $11. We read reviews before we left saying the drinks were “watered down” and that branded alcohol was substituted. This IS NOT true. We love a drink, and all the beverages we consumed on the Spirit were full flavoured and the real deal. We loved the special menu in the artist bar with the Martini Sampler ($20) and the modern cocktail list. The Remedy was one of our favourites.

RELAXING: Were to start. The adults only Serenity area was awesome, with easy access to the bar (not that you need to leave your seat). Relaxing on Deck 10 between the pods and the deck chairs was a popular choice for us and even sitting in one of the comfy chairs inside on Deck 2 and Deck 3 watching the water go by… just so relaxing.

CABIN: We’re saving for a big Asian adventure at the moment so we just went for an interior cabin on deck 1. We loved it. Everything you needed and we never felt treated differently because we had gone for the budget option. The cabin was extremely clean, practically appointed and bright. There were a few marks on the walls and another power point would have been nice (we bought a new power board that we left in its packaging and had no problem getting it approved for use) but they’re only minor things. We wouldn’t hesitate in booking another interior room on the Spirit for our next cursing holiday. Our room steward Lindon was like a ninja, bed made and towels hung in the blink of an eye. Nice work on the towel animals too man, thanks for everything.

SPA: We booked a manscaping package. Haircut, shave, facial and neck massage. Just awesome would totally recommend it.

PHOTOGRAPHY: We booked a session with Mickolus Cicon from DreamStudios. He was AWESOME. Very professional and the printed p
