With countries such as Singapore, Japan, and parts of Europe restarting their cruise industry to overwhelming success, you might be wondering when will cruises resume in Australia? The cruise industry and operators across Australia (and across the world) have been working tirelessly to create a safe and stress-free environment for locals to adventure again, and we at Cruise Guru cannot wait till cruises can once again restart and we can #readysetsail!

Globally, more than 400,000 guests have successfully sailed on more than 400 cruises since July 2020, a clear sign that when cruises resume, travellers will more than happily go. What’s more, with new and enhanced methods put in place across every cruise line to reduce and avoid the chance of potential spread, holidaying on the seas has never been safer.

How can you help cruises resume in Australia?

Want to take action and help cruises restart in Australia? Let your voice be heard by urging your local, state, and federal government representatives to finalise a pathway to resumption for the Australian cruise industry. Simply visit #ReadySetSail created by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and fill out their nifty form to directly contact your nearest representative. With more than $5 billion already wiped from Australia’s economy since suspensions began, now has never been a more urgent time to build a path that sees cruises resume and help save more than 18,000 jobs that are at risk.

When will cruises restart in Australia?

While there has been no confirmation on specific dates by the Government (yet!) on when cruises resume in Australia, cruise lines have set their own dates on when they believe they’ll be able to take Australians on fantastic adventures once more. Whether they’re domestic jaunts to fantastic destinations across Australia or unforgettable international voyages to countries we have established a travel bubble with, such as New Zealand, it’s safe to say that thousands of Aussies are more than ready to see cruises resume.

Below, you’ll find the currently expected cruise restart dates and compensation offerings for a wide range of cruise lines. Please note, this information is constantly changing and the information below is accurate as at 10am AEST Tuesday 25 May. Please find your cruise line in the table below and, if your booking has been impacted, follow the steps outlined to request compensation.

Do you have a booking with us that is affected by the resumption dates? Please visit our COVID-19 FAQ’s page for further information! Moreover, if you’re thinking about transferring to a sailing at a later date or cancelling your voyage, we suggest visiting our Book with Confidence page which has all the details you need to make the right choice before cruises resume in Australia.
