It was a very relaxed cruise. Excellent service. Good selection in shore excursions. There were too much formal nights.
Gorgeous ship.

The Queen Victoria is a superb ship. She has a very happy crew and is a very warm and welcoming place to spend your holiday vacation.

Many of the QE2's well trained and experienced crew moved across to Queen Victoria; so for regular Cunard travellers there are many familiar faces.

The decor is stunning, finished in a Victorian era theme, with dark panelling and rich furnishings. The most impressive areas include the Queens Room ballroom, complete with wooden dance floor; the Britannia Restaurant and the Grand Lobby, with its spiral staircases and murals.

The accommodation is lovely. Cabins on port and starboard are differentiated by separate colour themes of either blue or red. This is the same on the carpeting so it helps you find your way around.

Service is of a good standard with the classic "White Star" service touch. There is silver service in the dining rooms and the cabin attendants are thoughtful and friendly.

There is lots to do, including lectures, fencing lessons, ballroom dancing, crafts, Apple Computer learning classes, sports (tennis, basketball, golf) and two large pools. There's a spa, thelasotherapy centre, shops, casino, cages and eateries. It will fill you days at sea easily! The ship even has a two storey library!

This ship is a worthy successor to QE2 and carries on the fantastic Cunard traditions well. She has a fantastic onboard atmosphere and is really fun to travel aboard.

Looking forward to retiring to Queen Victoria soon!
Very enjoyable iconic cruising

Queen Victoria is gracious and elegant, just as you would expect. Service is impeccable, dining superb and the ship itself is beautiful with discreet luxury throughout. You are always aware you are on a Cunard ship. Interesting images, artifacts and reminders of the iconic ships are displayed (tastefully, of course,) through the Queen Vic. However, what I liked was the "unstuffiness" of it all. Room stewards and Wait staff were fun and friendly, other passengers relaxed and chatty. This is not a ship that takes itself too seriously. It's posh but not pretentious.
Our cruise from Auckland to Sydney had a mix of Cunard regulars and first timers like us who wanted to try out a different ship. Activities and events were well attended by both groups. High Tea was a favourite with everyone. Cucumber sandwich anyone? Get there early or you might need to queue.
Other highlights were the quality and variety of music and entertainments throughout the ship. Something for everyone, even heard Country music in the Golen Lion pub one afternoon.
The singer and band in the nightclub were brilliant!
Cunard ships (so we learnt) are ocean liners built for long voyages, so there are lots of activities to fill sea days. Or just enjoy the Spa, pool or Winter Garden. This was my favourite spot. The Winter Garden is a huge glassed in area beside the pool with an opening roof. It's decorated with plants and wicker lounges and chairs. It looks inviting and is very comfortable.
The Queen Victoria delivers all you expect from a luxury cruise line. I enjoyed the experience and am already planning another Cunard cruise.
The beautiful Queen Victoria

A last minute decision and we decided on the 5day sailing Auckland to Sydney, in balcony stateroom 7111. The service level on board was excellent from the Room Steward, the various Restaurants to Room Service. The food in the Britannia Restaurant was delicious, in fact even if you dined at the Lido Restaurant you would not be disappointed. One of my favourite rooms on board was the Queens Room, this is the heart of the ship. Here the muster drill is conducted, High Tea (at no extra cost), dancing classes, dance the night away to Gerswin or Cole Porter, and even a guest talent competitions was held. Then there is the Golden Lion, an English Pub serving delicious pub food (at no additional cost) often in the afternoon there would be a jazz band playing, and some nights there would be a Trivia Competition. I loved my experience! Queen Victoria is elegant but definitely not aloof, but very welcoming!!! Would love to sail with her again.
