There’s always a bit of curiosity when a well-known ship gets a major refresh. Celebrity Solstice has been an Aussie favourite for years, so the question is: how does it stack up after its multi-million-dollar revamp?
We’ve jumped on a sailing to see what’s new, so you’re getting our first-hand knowledge, not just the brochure version.
This isn’t just a quick spruce-up. The changes feel thoughtful and well planned, giving the ship a modern, elevated look while maintaining the premium edge Celebrity Cruises is known for.
The biggest impression is how cohesively the updates work together, elevating the standard and overall experience.

Eight New Spaces and Experiences Onboard Celebrity Solstice
Celebrity Solstice unveiled eight new experiences, including four completely new spaces to the brand – Trattoria Rosa, Sunset Park, The Parlor and Boulevard Lounge. The new venues aren’t just add-ons. They genuinely change how you spend your time onboard… for the better.
Sunset Park
The new top-deck outdoor destination Sunset Park replaces the original Lawn Club. It’s a simple idea done well; an open-air area that shifts throughout the day, from quiet mornings with a coffee in hand to a more social, lively feel in the afternoon and evening.
With spaces perfect for a range of activities such as yoga, live music, lawn games, drinks and uninterrupted ocean views, it’s already become a go-to spot for many guests.
Private cabanas can be hired at an additional cost with dedicated attendants on call. They’re perfect for families or groups celebrating special occasions or wanting a private get-together.
Guru tip: The private cabanas are perfect for sail-aways, offering some of the best vantage points on board.
Sunset Park Cafe
The new Sunset Park Café offers breakfast and lunch with an assortment of quiches, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Charcuterie boards are available throughout the day. It’s simple, but delicious.
Sunset Park Cafe is located midship, while the expanded Sunset Bar at the back of the ship offers delicious, handcrafted cocktails, wines, beers and spirits for you to enjoy as you take in the views.
Trattoria Rossa
The brand-new specialty restaurant, Trattoria Rossa, made its debut on Celebrity Solstice, bringing a warm, Italian-style dining experience with fresh pastas, risottos, lasagnas and other Italian favourites. Watching dishes being prepared tableside adds that little bit of theatre.
It’s the sort of place where dinner can easily turn into a long, relaxed evening, but if you’re like us and want to try a lot, ask for smaller portions.
Guru tip: This exceptional Italian dining experience is not yet available on any other Celebrity ship, so give this a go if you’re onboard. We highly recommend the beef carpaccio, lobster risotto and the pistachio gelato. All incredibly delicious.
Fine Cut Steakhouse
Another specialty dining addition is Fine Cut Steakhouse, which adds a more polished option for those nights when you feel like stepping things up a notch. Think quality cuts, good wine and that slightly dressier feel without being over the top.
Guru Tip: Don’t skip the sides. They’re as impressive as the steak! And if you’re unsure about wine, the sommelier is always happy to help you find the ideal pairing for your steak. Our top pick? A light Pinot Noir from France was a match made in heaven!
Boulevard Lounge
The 125-seat Boulevard Lounge is a fabulous addition, delivering all-day programming. It’s smaller, more intimate and a bit more flexible than the main theatre. You might drop in for live music, a game show, piano bar sing-alongs, or karaoke.
It’s intimate and feels personal but lively enough to keep things fun, giving guests more choice in how they want to spend their evenings.
Guru tip: Some shows like duelling pianos are popular so get there early if you want to get a good seat for the performance. We spent a lot of evenings there and give it a big tick!
Boulevard Bar
If you’re after a quick drink before heading to Boulevard Lounge or just want a relaxed vibe, Boulevard Bar sits just outside and is usually quieter than other bars. It offers handcrafted cocktails.
The Parlor
The Parlor is the brand-new sports bar onboard, a complete standout. It’s a relaxed, social space with games, big screens and comfort food. And if you’re favourite footy game is on, you may even be able to watch it on board.
It’s playful, nostalgic, and perfect for those moments when you just want to unwind with a game, watch something on the big screen or share cocktails with friends. We think it feels less like a cruise venue and more like your favourite hangout spot. It certainly was ours!
Guru Tip: Get ready for some moving balls when you’re playing pool in the middle of the ocean. The swells can add a cheeky twist to the game! It’s all part of the fun.
The Retreat Sundeck
Guests of the Retreat, Celebrity’s exclusive suite-class, will enjoy private access to the brand-new Retreat Sundeck with an oversized hot tub, shaded private lounge areas and dedicated outdoor seating.
Guru tip: This experience is exclusive to The Retreat guests, so always have your Seapass with you. You’ll need to swipe it to access this area.
Additional Upgrades on Celebrity Solstice
One of the most significant updates is behind the scenes: every stateroom has been refreshed to feel lighter, fresher and more refined, alongside the addition of four new stateroom categories and 54 new cabins overall, bringing the total number of cabins to 1,479.
AquaClass continues to build on its wellness focus with added in-room features such as massaging shower heads and aromatherapy diffusers, along with exclusive, complimentary access to the updated restaurant Blu and The Spa’s Persian Garden.
The entertainment options have also been refreshed, and they’re genuinely impressive. Whether high-energy performances or more intimate, candle-lit musical moments, there’s a real sense of variety. There are still the big theatre productions, but also smaller, more atmospheric moments. It’s makes you stay out later than planned and not regret it.
Returning venues have also gotten an uplift, including Café Al Bacio, World Class Bar, Cellar Masters, Martini Bar, Pool Bar, Passport Bar, the Fitness Center, Camp at Sea and Luminae, which is exclusive to the Retreat guests.

Other Onboard Spaces You Don’t Want to Miss
The Sky Observation Lounge on Deck 14 was always a top spot, but the recent facelift has really taken it up a notch! It’s now brighter and more stylish, with fresh furnishings and a contemporary vibe. You’ve still got those epic panoramic views, but now it’s got that extra touch of luxury and comfort. Whether you’re sipping a cocktail at sunset or just soaking in the view, this is the place to kick back and enjoy the good life.
For some quiet time, the Solarium is your adult-only haven. It’s got this peaceful, intimate vibe where everyone’s just chilling out, whether they’re reading a book, soaking up the sun, taking a dip in the pool or just enjoying a moment of serenity with a good coffee in hand.
We couldn’t get enough of the Library. It’s such a cosy spot to relax and get lost in a book. Whether you’re into thrillers or the classics, it’s worth every minute you spend here, with the comfy chairs and that perfect mix of quietness and warmth.
And for those who love a good game, the Card Room is the place to be. There are plenty of tables for a competitive game of poker or even something more laid-back like a round of Uno or Monopoly. And, the shelves are stocked with board games, so you’ll never run out of options for some fun with your mates.
What Bars Are Onboard Celebrity Solstice?
There are plenty of bars spread across various decks, each offering a different vibe and experience. Whether you’re after a quiet spot to sip a cocktail or a lively scene with live music, there’s a bar for every mood.
Wine lovers will particularly enjoy Cellar Masters with a selection of fine wines on offer. It has a cosy, evening vibe that is ideal for a dress-up night.
Mast Bar and Pool Bar are right by the pool areas, perfect for refreshing drinks on sunny, pool days.
With panoramic views, Sky Observation Lounge is the go-to place for cocktails at sunset. For those who want a quieter vibe, Passport Bar on Deck 3 is a lovely spot for a pre-show or pre-dinner drink, often with live music playing in the adjoining Grand Foyer.
The Martini Bar is where you’ll want to head if you’re a fan of a good cocktail and a bit of fun. The vibe here is all about that classy yet playful feel. The bartenders are absolute pros, shaking up anything from the classic martini to some wild, creative concoctions. You can even watch them work their magic with that chilled ice and glassware flair.
If you’re after a drink experience with the extra flair, try World Class Bar. From classic concoctions to bespoke creations, the bartenders will whip up something that’ll have your taste buds dancing.
Sports fans, don’t forget, The Parlor is now open for business on the newly revamped Solstice. And if you’re after another option, the Boulevard Bar is just outside the Boulevard Lounge, perfect for a relaxed drink or two while you kick back and soak in the atmosphere.
For stunning top-deck ocean views, chilled vibes and delicious handcrafted cocktails, head to Sunset Bar at the back of the ship. The views from here are stunning as you watch the ocean go by.
Guru Tip: Even if your go-to drink isn’t on the menu at a bar, or if it’s available at one but not another, don’t stress. Just ask! The bartenders are usually more than happy to whip it up for you. Each bar has its own menu to give you a bit more variety.
What Complimentary Dining Venues Are Onboard Celebrity Solstice?
The main dining restaurant is also known as Grand Epernay Dining. Enjoy a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe with a mix of classic and modern dishes, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Grab a cappuccino or some delicious pastries for a cheeky treat at Café al Bacio. The coffee is an added cost but included with your drinks package.
Oceanview Cafe is the main buffet on board with cuisines from all over the world on display. Plus, a selection of fan favourites like grilled meats, fish and chips, deli meats, artisan cheeses and more. This buffet’s got your back with loads of global flavours and all the comfort food you need, ideal for when you’re craving variety.
Mast Grill offers a selection of hot dogs and burgers made your way. There’s usually a line because it is so popular with guests, but they’re efficient and you never wait too long.
The Spa Café offers lots of healthy eats, from fresh salads to light smoothies. It’s the perfect fuel for a spa day or just keeping things fresh. They’re smaller, leaner portions focussing a bit more on the wellness side of things without lacking in flavour. It felt healthy and satisfying at the same time! Catch the sunset with a light bite and a drink in hand at Sunset Park Café. From sandwiches to salads, it’s chill and laid-back, just how we like it.
Guru tip: Most dishes in these venues are included, but some items like charcuterie boards typically come with an extra charge. To avoid any surprises, just ask the crew what’s on the house and what’s not. And always make sure to mention any allergies or food preferences.
What Specialty Dining Venues Are Available on Celebrity Solstice?
If you’re anything like most Aussies heading off on a cruise, food is a big part of the adventure. And on the Celebrity Solstice, you’re definitely not short of options, especially when it comes to specialty dining.
You’ll find four specialty restaurants onboard. These are the spots where you pay a little extra, but in return you get that elevated, “this is a bit fancy” kind of experience, perfect for a date night, a celebration, or just treating yourself because… why not?
After the refresh, some of the venues have evolved. You will now come across places like Fine Cut Steakhouse and Trattoria Rossa, alongside returning classics like Murano and Sushi on Five.
Now, it’s worth mentioning that there are also exclusive restaurants onboard, like Blu and Luminae. These are absolutely beautiful dining venues, but they’re reserved for specific guests (AquaClass and suite passengers).
Is There a Kids Club Onboard?
The fantastic Celebrity Solstice kids club Camp at Sea caters to kids between 3 and 12. Every day, there’s a teen takeover for the older ones who may be too old for the traditional kids club concept but too young for some of the other spaces like Solarium for example.
Camp at Sea operates in three convenient, complimentary sessions: 9am to 12pm, 2pm to 5pm, and 7pm to 10pm, giving the little ones plenty to do while parents and grandparents can kick back and enjoy some well-deserved downtime. It’s one of the many reasons we absolutely love cruising. Everyone gets their own space to relax and make the most of the holiday!
What’s the Best Drinks Package on Celebrity Solstice?
The Classic Drinks package covers the cost of drinks up to a value of $12. There’s a range of wines and beers on board for that price, but if you prefer cocktails or more premium champagne, wine and cocktail options, then the Premium package (covers drinks up to $20) may be the better choice.
Guru tip: Celebrity is flexible, so if you have the classic package and opt for a premium drink, you only pay the difference. This is a benefit if you only want a few premium drinks on your sailing. And if you’d prefer to pay as you go, you can always do that!
What Wi-Fi Options Are Available?
You can opt for the classic or premium Wi-Fi package. The classic allows you to check emails, chats and that’s about it, while premium offers you the option to stream and make video calls, so perfect if you are intending to work on board. The connection speeds were also pretty good, given that we were in the middle of the ocean.
If you have a single device package and want to swap to another device, you can actually do that. Ask us how before you get onboard.
What We Loved About Celebrity Solstice
A lot! It’s classic and stylish, never over the top. And now, there’s a new energy running through the ship.
You can spend your days doing as much or as little as you like; lounging in the sun, discovering new dining spots, enjoying live entertainment or simply watching the ocean drift by.
What stands out straight away is how open and relaxed the ship feels. It’s still very much Solstice but with a lighter, more contemporary vibe. Many loyal Celebrity guests even likened it with another Aussie fan-favourite, Celebrity Edge.
With more choice in dining, more variety in entertainment and more ways to use the ship’s spaces, guests now have expanded choices without compromising on the quality and feel that is so quintessentially Celebrity.
What Could Be Improved
Service wasn’t always perfectly consistent and during busy periods things could slow down a touch.
The buffet, while offering plenty of choice, could get quite busy too, so grabbing a seat at peak times sometimes took a bit of patience. But there’s no real rush to get anywhere.
Overall, these felt minor rather than deal-breakers, and the crew’s warm, eager-to-help attitude really stood out.
A Cruise Ship Perfect for Australian Guests
Even though the ship was full with nearly 3,000 guests onboard, it never felt crowded. During our sailing from Sydney to Honolulu, we had around 1,200 Aussies on board, the majority nationality, and a clear sign of just how popular this ship is in our market It’s always nice when the ship feels spacious, no matter how many are onboard.
For returning guests, the ship will feel familiar but noticeably improved. For first-time cruisers, it offers a well-rounded experience that combines comfort, quality and a good range of onboard options.
Whether you’re cruising through Australia, Asia, heading across to Alaska or looking at something longer like the Grand Voyage, it’s a ship that’s easy to settle into and hard to leave.
Cruise Guru Verdict
We think Celebrity Solstice 2.0 is going to be a massive hit with Aussies, from returning guests to first timers. It hits all the sweet spots whether you’re looking to set the dance floor on fire, catch a performance, enjoy delicious cuisine or curl up with a book under a cabana.
If it’s been on your list for a while, now’s a pretty good time to take a closer look.
